Visions of space and time.
Space, Time | Repeat
10/25 - 11/14, 2021 Virtual Exhibition
Carole Daley | Max King Cap | Don McKinney | Ron Yeo | Mark Leysen
For this series of virtual exhibitions, we have reached out to members of the community, all of which have been engaged in art making for quite some time. This first collection of five artists all work within their genre to express thoughts on a variety of subject matters through the medium of paint and sculpture. From abstraction through realism, into non-representational art, each artists' expression is true to their vision for their own space and time. You will discover that art can transport you to the past while being provocatively suggestive through simplicity, detritus reassembled can once again creep through your life, overlooked aspects of landscape are once again highlighted, and quite often ART can transport you into realm of abstraction. Read more on the Coastline Art Gallery Blog.
The exhibition is available for viewing October 25 - November 14, 2021.

NLB stands for Negro Leagues Baseball. There were many leagues. Often unsteady ventures that followed the warm weather and the patronage of a smaller segment of the population, they were founded, collapsed, merged, changed names, and transferred cities. Yet their shoestring budgets and changeable rosters managed to create a brand of segregated baseball that was equal and often superior to major league baseball, to White segregated baseball.
These painted abstractions are based on photographs and uniforms of the teams that made up the Negro Leagues. Their variation parallels the often inconsistent record keeping (statisticians cost money that these teams often couldn’t spare) that has produced a historical record of Negro Leagues Baseball that is often constructed substantially of word of mouth, faltering memories, and fable.

This series of paintings is inspired by the tension between Nature and today’s consumer society. Our insistence on paving paradise* intrudes into the most benign scenes.

Artist Statement
My work begins with the use of intuitive line drawings, which are created as a daily ritual. They are stored for years and readily available as a reference. My recent paintings have emerged from groupings and manipulations of these drawings. Thus, bringing together related thoughts, movements, and expressions that can evolve over a period of many years. It is only then that scale and material become a factor. I create several series of works with different mediums, simultaneously, and they ranged from twelve by twelve feet to three by three inches.
Ron Yeo, FAIA | Architect & Artist
Artist Bio
A native Californian, Ron & his wife Birgitta have lived & worked in Corona del Mar, California for the past 58 years. His CdM architectural practice has consisted primarily of cultural/recreational projects along with outstanding custom home designs. He is now 95% retired and has converted his architectural office into an ART Studio.
Ron has always had an interest in Art and feels that art cannot be separated from architecture, landscape, city planning and nature. He was chairman of the Newport Beach Arts Committee from 1970 to 1972 and President of the Orange County Arts Alliance in 1980-81.
Ron is an admitted "collector" & can’t stand tossing anything away. He is probably best known for saving left over ceramic tile from his various building projects and re-using them in a variety of public rest room projects.
He enjoys making a variety of items out of leftover stuff. Recently he has developed a series of interesting ART projects out of re-cycled bottle caps, tossed out used items and abandoned "beach treasures"
