Artists
Lesli Bonanni
Lesli Bonanni paints evocative, atmospheric landscapes with soft pastel on textured paper. Her work is of a minimalist nature, primarily interested in the distillation of the landscape to reveal its essence. Upon entering the studio, she is filled with anticipation, excited to experience what she doesn't know, yearning to see what will happen. Embracing the not knowing is essential for her. For Lesli, the act of painting is a spiritual one. The world is shut out, and in her quiet solitude, she is connected to the Universe. The extreme focus centers her restless self. The process is impulsive, intuitive, introspective, and emotional. Lesli is fearless.
Artist Hedy Buzan leads a group of Festival exhibitors in discussing today’s topic "Abstraction" at Art Talks and Tea, sponsored by PBSSoCal. Hear artists Tom Lamb, Lesli Bonanni, Jonathan Hunt, Yoonsook Ryang, Elizabeth Bridy and Kathe Madrigal share insights into their work live from our Festival Green.
Ada Pullini Brown
Ada Pullini Brown's art is grounded in observational drawing and painting, encompassing both the figure and the landscape. Over the last several years, she has developed two distinct bodies of work: Living Veiled and The Migrants. Both bodies of work demonstrate her ongoing fascination with the lives of women. The Living Veiled series tackles the issue of cultural traditions and the veiling of women, an ancient dress code prevalent across various cultures, including her own. The Migrants consist of paintings and works on paper that reflect her concern for displaced populations.
Ada Pullini Brown's most recent works focus on sky views in the series Through the Empyrean. Initiated during the Covid lockdowns, this marks a return to landscape art and a quest for a fresh approach to this familiar subject. Within these works, the floating circles and rectangles serve as a focal point, reminding the artist that she can only perceive a small piece of the expansive landscape from her specific vantage point.

Deborah Davidson
Deborah Davidson's paintings are likened to Frankensteins, where she assembles bits and pieces of found images, stitching them together to breathe new life into her creations. Frequently, these new incarnations embody abstract ideas such as vulnerability and defiance. Symbolism subtly resides in the combinations of animals perched or balanced on everyday objects within her artwork. Birds, delicate and small yet exuding great presence and dignity, feature prominently in some of the images.
Davidson's paintings delve into themes of alchemy, secrets, innocence, and the dichotomy between things kept and things discarded. Her art explores the fragility of life and finds beauty in the ordinary, making a statement about the inherent significance of common objects.
Ned Evans
Ned Evans was born in Burbank, CA in 1950. He acquired a Master in Fine Art at the University of California in 1974. Evans’ work showcases a rich and intense palette taken from the sun, sea and land of Southern California. They suggest notions of a languid ocean and burning desert sands. Evans’ paintings have been exhibited extensively, nationally and internationally in nearly 30 solo shows as well as numerous group exhibitions. His works are included in numerous important public and private collections worldwide.

Bryan Jennings
Bryan Jennings is constantly inspired by the landscape: The blurred lines, the smoothness of blended colors, the movement and marks, the hidden and mysterious of things most of us see and ignore every day. Jennings is drawn to the light and weather, capturing a moment in time that he often relates to human emotions that are part of an emotional journey.
John Ng
Jon Ng received his MFA degree in Painting and Drawing from California State University, Fullerton. He has taught art at the college level, and in adult education courses. Jon has over 20 years work experience as an independent contractor in the decorative arts, and design related fields. He exhibits locally and nationally, while maintaining a full-time studio in Orange County, CA. Jon Ng’s work is in a handful of private and corporate collections across the United States.
Paul Paiement
Paul Paiement finds himself in an exhilarating epoch, akin to the Romantic era, where the current fast-paced, controlled, and technologically driven culture sparks a profound yearning to reconnect with the expansive and ever-changing aspects of life. In the spirit of Henry David Thoreau's "Walden," a deliberate and slower existence is sought amid a seemingly detached yet inherently intertwined relationship with nature.
Paul Paiement's artworks engage in a process of "hybridization," interweaving the synthetic, man-made elements of culture, such as architecture with its linear perspective, alongside the organic elements of the natural world. The objective is to bridge the perceived disparities through the visual languages of linear and atmospheric perspective, representation and abstraction, and strategic layering.
Landscapes devoid of specific identity or location become the canvas for Paul Paiement's artistic expression. Leveraging atmospheric perspective, he crafts scenes that exude a naturalistic vastness, imbued with a sense of infiniteness. Plexi-glass overlays, airbrushed to simulate flattened architectural drawings, introduce a geometric abstraction that coexists with the intricate representation found within the landscape. The resultant amalgamation, a hybrid, emerges from the confluence of nature and machine in Paiement's artistic exploration.

Robert Redding
Robert Redding graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BFA in Painting and Photography. He has made a career on the cutting edge of fashion and graphic design, working with a range of companies from Nordstrom and Tommy Bahama, to Quiksilver. He has always maintained his fine art roots, collecting art and painting.
Robert’s design philosophy is inspired by history and humor. "Too often we forget our sense of humor in design and art." he says. "In all of my designs, I try to give each client a small something that they do not expect. I think the blueprints fit that perfectly. I look at the Animal Blueprints as a tongue in cheek nod to architecture, engineering, design and of course our best friend."
The idea for the Animal Blueprint Company came on 09-09-2009 (and as such, this date is in the stamp on every A.B.C. print). The company was officially launched in March of 2010. The actual background for all Animal Blueprint Company prints is based on an original 1950's blueprint given to him by a friend, complete with the color, character and texture of that era.

Bradford J. Salamon
Born into a creatively inclined family in Los Angeles, California, Bradford J. Salamon's artistic journey was shaped by the passion of his parents. His father, Joseph, immersed himself in painting, while his mother, Mary Lou, found joy in writing and playing the piano. At the age of 13, Salamon delved into drumming, performing with various bands in local nightclubs, schools, and churches by the time he turned 16. Notably, at 18, he contributed drawings for his band Idle Lovell's album cover, a milestone marked by their signing to Blonde Vinyl Records.
Recognition of Salamon's artistic prowess prompted his father to publish charcoal drawings portraying rock and roll stars and celebrities. Over a few years, more than 100 subjects adorned nationwide retailers like Virgin Megastores and Tower Records. Following graduation and international art studies in his mid-thirties, Salamon returned to portraiture, this time exploring oil painting under the influence of Lucian Freud and Alice Neal. Between 1996 and 1999, he earned the distinction of being an official Grammy artist recognized by The National Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Salamon's artistic focus shifted towards painting portraits of friends, family, musicians, and notable LA artists such as Don Bachardy, Andy Moses, Llyn Foulkes, and Roland Reiss. His works are characterized by a distinctive texture, boldness, and an economy of brush strokes that define his artistic signature.
