Duets|With featuring the work of 28 artists, their portraits photographed by Tony Pinto.
Duets|With
October 25 - December 1, 2022
Duets|With focuses on Orange County artists, and artists with a relationship to either the school or Coastline's Newport Beach Campus Art Gallery. With those parameters in mind, photographer Tony Pinto curated the show by reaching out to artists and teachers, selecting 28 artists in all - and a solid mix of drawings, sculpture, paintings, figurative and abstract work - to be shown alongside his portraits. Pinto photographed most of the portraits in the show specifically for this exhibition in August and September, 2022.
On view in the Art Gallery: Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10am - 2pm (or by appointment).

David McDevitt earned his bachelor's degree in English literature at Arizona State University and his master's degree in English at California State University, Long Beach. He has travelled extensively, including a study abroad program at the University of Cambridge and four years in Japan teaching English as a second language. At Long Beach, David divided his graduate studies between Early Modern English literature and the theory and pedagogy of teaching college writing. Last year, he edited and published Mary Pix's 1705 tragedy The Conquest of Spain with a goal of promoting Early Modern women's drama. David is an instructor of English composition at Coastline College.

Kate is a long-time poet, having over six books to her name, among them her most recent Aurochs. She served for ten years as the editor-in-chief of CQ (California Quarterly), the publication of CSPS (California State Poetry Society), successfully acquiring two grants to support the organization and serving a president as well. On a personal note, Kate holds an M.A. in English and has been a teacher for over thirty years, teaching business writing, composition, rhetoric, and poetry. She is the mother of one son, a graphic artist specializing in 3-D printing. Sometimes her dogs dig up the garden, and she switches to raising heck instead of writing poetry (check out YouTube, keyword Katherine Ozbirn Coton-Malts). She’s judged for ASPS (Arizona State Poetry Society) three times and is proud of serving the cause of poetry. She looks forward to other opportunities to foster and share poetry.
