How to Prepare

To apply, you will first create an account. The application process typically takes under an hour if you have everything ready, so check out the list below!

STEP 2: Submit an Application

OpenCCC Application
(20 - 30 minutes if new account)
(5- 10 minutes to review and revise a previous application if the application has been submitted to other community college(s))

  • Physical and Mailing Address
  • High school name and graduation date
  • Multiple Measures
    • High school grades if graduated within the last 10 years
  • Colleges attendances and dates
    • Degree conferral dates
  • Visa immigration documents (if applicable)

NOTE: Military & Corporate Programs Designation
To ensure that the application is forwarded to the Military & Contract Education Department, students must select "Military Program" or "Corporate Program" from the "Extended Learning Division" box located on the Supplemental Questions page (page 8) of the online application.

Application Dates

Coastline College is currently accepting applications* for:

  • Winter Intersession/Spring 2025
  • Summer/Fall 2025

Students should apply early for the best appointment time. Late applicants may experience delays in registration and limited class availability.

*Students who live in the following states and districts cannot take Coastline courses: Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington, DC. In New York, new students cannot take Coastline courses, however, continuing students can finish their program. In Kentucky, only Military students, may take Coastline courses.

What to Expect

New & Returning Students

New Students - You're considered a new student if you've never taken classes at Coastline College. New students, regardless of their educational background and goal, must apply for admission. You may apply through OpenCCC.

It is important to submit your application at least 10 working days prior to the start date of the class to allow for processing and return of your MyCoast login information and registration appointment.

Once you submit your online application, you will receive an email immediately (sent to the email address you supplied on your application) confirming successful submission of your application. Please make sure to read the email in its entirety regarding your application. Additional information will be sent via email once your application is processed.

Returning Students - Returning students are those who have previously attended Coastline College but have missed two or more semesters. Returning students must apply for admissions to be assigned a registration appointment and to activate their MyCoast account.

International Students

International Students - Those requiring an F-1 visa, please visit the International Students webpage for application information or call (714) 241-6141 to speak to Javier Alcala, International Student Staff Aide.

Continuing Students

Continuing Students - Those who were registered in classes for the previous Fall and/or Spring term do not need to reapply for the current term. Continuing students will be able to view their registration appointment via their MyCoast site. See Registration Dates page to view appointment dates.

Military Students

High School Students

High School Students - Concurrently enrolled 9th through 12th grade High School Students must apply online using the application link above. Concurrent enrolled high school students must submit an approved High School Release Form before registering for classes. For additional information and to access the form, please visit our High School Students webpage.
