Intimate Objects | Essential Images: an intimate connection with art and each other.
Intimate Objects | Essential Images
April 12 - May 14, 2022 Exhibition
Jane Bauman | Richard Turner | Michelle Jane Lee
As the Art Gallery at Coastline College gets back up and running our second exhibition brings together these three artists. Shared between them is a similar sensibility that is aimed to reconnect us with each other. This exhibition which includes painting, sculpture, and collage highlights what we have all possibly missed over the last two years, an intimate connection with art and each other. These ideas are truly essential for the community.
You can view this show in the Art Gallery Tuesday - Thursday, 12 - 5pm.
Artists
Jane Bauman
- BA, Santa Clara University
- MFA, San Francisco Art Institute
Jane Bauman was born in Burbank, California and considers growing up in Los Angeles county to be a formative influence. Surf culture, the 60s hippie movement, psychedelic music and the Hollywood movie industry were all there and combined to make for an enriched environment.
Michelle Jane Lee
- School of the Art Institute of Chicago
- Yale University Summer School of Art
Michelle Jane Lee's art is an ecstatic exaltation of color and a compelling performance of high-risk sincerity. Unapologetically emotional despite a minimalist aesthetic and conceptual methodology, Lee is dedicated to celebrating sensitivity and the personal narrative while embracing a process-based approach towards abstraction, Lee’s work proves conceptualism and emotion need not be mutually exclusive.
Richard Turner
- BA, Antioch College
- MFA, University of Michigan
Artist/curator Richard Turner is a Professor Emeritus at Chapman University where he taught contemporary Asian art history and studio art. As Director of Chapman University's Guggenheim Gallery, he curated over seventy exhibitions. He lived in Saigon, Vietnam in 1959 - 1961.
