
Social Media, Student App and Blogging Guidelines
Community
Coastline College encourages everyone to participate and connect with the people and content on its social media platforms. To protect the interests of Coastline College's users and community, Coastline College sanctioned social media will be moderated to ensure the safety of all users. Coastline College sanctioned social media is not an open forum. Inappropriate, disruptive, criminal, abusive, SPAM and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated. Content that expresses hate, profanity and personal attacks also will not be allowed. Users who use curse words, racist words, or abusive language will be blocked. We may, but have no obligation to, remove, hide, block, report, and/or monitor content or accounts posting on our social media accounts that we determine, at our sole discretion, violates our posting guidelines.
Law & Standards
Social media and blogging accounts will adhere to both state and federal law including those that pertain to harassment and criminal threats. Violators will be suspended from all Coastline College social media and blogging activity until further notice and may be reported to local police.

Additionally, all activity on official Coastline College social media pages and Coastline College-sanctioned social pages will be subject to the College's Student Code of Conduct. See Coast Community College District Board Policy BP/AP 5500 . Coastline students who violate the Student Code of Conduct on social media will be referred to the Dean of Students' Office.
Opinion & Personal Views
The views and opinions expressed on Coastline College-sanctioned social media platforms are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of Coastline College, its leadership, its Board of Trustees, or any of its employees.
Respect
Marketing and Creative Services will not engage with users who make negative or slanderous remarks toward the College or one of its employees on official College social media accounts or apps. If necessary, an authorized Coastline College representative will respond respectfully to correct any false statement. Depending on the severity of the negative comment, the College’s executive team and/or authorities will be consulted.
If a post produced by a Coastline College-sanctioned social media account is found to be offensive, Marketing and Creative Services will request that the post be deleted immediately and an apology issued. The person or group responsible for the post will be reported to their direct supervisor.
