Coastline supports students on their journey to enhance their overall well-being through mental health services. Mental health services are provided in office or online (virtually). Contact us for more information!
We are committed to welcoming and affirming students of diverse backgrounds and identities including - but not limited to - age, ethnicity, faith, gender, citizenship or immigration status, level of academic standing, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. Coastline College is proud to offer mental health services to actively enrolled students as we understand the impact of mental health on our students' academic success.

Call (714) 241-6005 to make an appointment for an intake session with a therapist. Have your student ID ready, as you will be asked to provide this.

Mental Health Therapists use brief models of therapy to support student's short-term goals and immediate mental health and emotional needs. Available services include:
- Assessment for therapy
- Brief individual therapy
- Case management - referral services

- Crisis intervention & crisis debrief

- Wellness workshops
Students can expect an improvement in their lives, whether it is in or out of the classroom, upon learning to reduce and manage stressors that often become barriers to academic success and personal well-being.
Also, Student Mental Health Services now offers teletherapy to actively enrolled Coastline students. Teletherapy is sessions held through video with a Mental Health Therapist. For a teletherapy appointment, please make sure that you have access to a camera and microphone (i.e. your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer).

Group Therapy

Virtual Care From Anywhere
Student Mental Health Services is offering TimelyCare for students who need appointments after 6pm, on weekends, or are located out of state. TimelyCare is a teletherapy service that offers licensed providers to support your mental health.
TimelyCare offers:
- No cost, on-demand support available 24/7
- Support from counselors via phone or secure video platform
- Service care options from a licensed mental health professional from your smartphone or any web-enabled device.

Basic Needs Resources
Basic Needs at Coastline College includes food access, housing assistance, mental health services, hygiene products, student success supplies/equipment, transportation, and emergency funding. Basic needs services & resources are coordinated to serve and support students to be successful in your educational journey.

What is the cost of mental health services at Coastline College for students?
Free! If you are an active student at Coastline College, mental health services are free.

I am interested in talking to someone. How can I make an appointment?
Call (714) 241-6005 to make an appointment for an intake session with a therapist. Have your student ID ready, as you will be asked to provide this.

What's an intake?
An intake is the first session with your mental health therapist. The therapist will gather the information that will help determine how mental health services can best serve you.

What are your hours and locations?
Appointments will be determined by the availability of therapists' and students' needs. We can see students at all four college centers and online via telehealth (online video conferencing) appointments.

I take classes online or am unable to make it to therapy at one of Coastline's campuses. Do you offer any services over the phone and/or online?

Do you take walk-ins or emergencies after hours?
At this time, we do not take walk-ins or emergencies after hours. If you need emergency assistance, please call 911 and request an emergency crisis evaluation or go to your nearest emergency room.
Additional crisis resources include Orange County's Crisis Assessment Team (CAT) which provides 24-hour mobile response services to any adult experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Can my significant other or family member receive services?
Only students who are active at Coastline College are eligible for mental health services. However, a significant other or family member may attend the student's sessions with the request, permission, and consent of the student only. Appropriate community referrals for couples counseling and/or family counseling will be given when necessary.

Are mental health services confidential?
Conversations between you and the therapist are private and confidential except in cases where the therapist is obligated to report suspected abuse and/or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult or serious threats with a plan to harm self (suicide) or others (homicide).
You may sign a specific written release of information to share verbal or written information with others such as a medical provider, another therapist, etc. Mental health records are not part of student academic records.

TimelyCare provides options to students seeking evening or weekend appointments, located out of state, needing bilingual therapy, and/or desiring providers that reflect the students' backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
