Artist Statement
My paintings/drawings are personal and narrative. I draw and paint in a loose realistic style, having always favored the innate textures of mark making whether it is from a brush or a pencil. Recently I have been layering graphite drawings with oil washes and direct painting techniques. I enjoy the layers that get created during this process. I want to allow the viewer to see my thought process and choices I make while creating the image. There are many sayings like Emerson's, "Life's a journey not a destination," and I find that these reflections on life best describe where my art is right now. Each piece is a record of the journey.
