Questions and Answers
- What does the Student Success & Resource Center offer?
- The Student Success & Resource Center (SSRC) provides access to learning assistance resources. Online tutoring is also available in Canvas through NetTutor which are partners of the Student Success and Resource Center. Students are welcome to join our SSRC Canvas shell by clicking on "Log in: Free Online Tutoring" on our main page.
- You can reach us at (714) 714-7277 or via email at success@coastline.edu during hours of operation. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive a response not including weekends or holidays.

- What is learning assistance?
- Learning assistance is about helping students optimize their learning and their performance on their assignments. Through learning assistance students can develop a growth mindset to be successful in their studies. Students develop the determination to dream, to be organized, to learn, to have a plan, to innovate, and to never give up.
- Can I get help with any class?
- Yes.The SSRC provides assistance across the curriculum for assignment preparation and how to study. For specific content tutoring, please contact one of our online tutoring partners available through your Canvas course(s). NetTutor (Online Tutoring) provides content tutoring in over 150 subjects ranging from writing, the sciences, math, and more.
- Are tutors available to meet in person?
- Currently tutoring is offered only online. See our online tutoring services.
- Can I meet with a tutor live online?
- Yes. If you are being tutored on NetTutor you can request to have audio and/or video turned on. If the session starts with a virtual chat, ask to have the video and audio options. Screen sharing is also possible.
- What technology do I need?
- The same technology that you use to access your Coastline classes is all that is needed. Online tutoring provided by NetTutor is accessed through Canvas.
- If you wish to interact with your online tutor through audio and video, it is recommended that you have a webcam and microphone enabled. Ask the tutor in your session if you have specific questions about audio-visual capabilities.
- Is there a time limit for tutoring?
- Currently, no. However please be advised that online tutoring services can be impacted and availability per subject may vary.
- I don't see any tutoring options available in my Canvas course page. What do I do?
- Join the SSRC Canvas shell by clicking on "Log in: Free Online Tutoring" on the homepage of our SSRC website.
- Can I submit an essay or a paper for feedback?
- Yes. Please access the paper drop-off areas found within NetTutor (Online Tutoring). You are also encouraged to utilize the Writing Center.
