Workers Compensation
In the event of a work-related incident, whether severe or minor, employees must promptly report accidents, injuries, or illnesses to their supervisor. Employees who experience a work-related accident, illness or injury are obligated to fill out the necessary forms and collaborate with Human Resources (Justine Warren, jwarren54@cccd.edu) to fulfill the responsibilities for recording and reporting.
If the work-related accident, injury or illness results in the employee being placed on a leave of absence, the company’s various leave policies will apply to that absence. The college strives to bring employees back to work as soon as possible following a work-related accident, injury or illness. Thus, while employees are on a leave of absence, they should stay in contact with Human Resources regarding their expected return to work.
Workplace Injuries Procedures
- In case of serious injuries, dial 911 immediately.
- Report other injuries promptly to your supervisor. If unavailable, inform another supervisor or contact the Coastline’s College Human Resources department.
- Upon reporting, Director of Human Resources, Justine Warren, will provide a signed treatment authorization form.
- Go promptly to an authorized medical clinic, as specified below.
- Complete required paperwork and maintain regular communication with Human Resources.
- The supervisor will be contacted to complete a Supervisor’s Report of Injury.
Reporting a workplace injury/incident ensures a documented record without automatically filing a workers’ compensation claim. Employees retain the right to file such a claim at a later date.
