Biography
Professory Smith has been teaching economics and business at the community college level since 2012 and is currently the Social Sciences Department Co-Chair and full-time Professor at Coastline. After graduating from UCSB with her M.A. in Economics Stacey entered the credit management industry, working in the accounts receivable department of an electrical supply company. She also spent some time working in commercial property management / real estate, managing operations for large commercial office buildings. Additionally, she worked through college as job coach for people with disabilities, helping ensure beneficial working environments and performance for her clients and their employers.
Stacey's true calling is teaching and she plans to be at Coastline for many years to come. Her favorite part about the profession is working with students to help guide them through school and on to the university or a career. Fun tidbits about Stacey are that she played indoor volleyball at UCSB on a scholarship, she began studying economics because she accidentally registered for a statistics course for Econ majors only (so figured, why not try it?!), and that she loves travelling internationally to learn more about our world's cultures. In recent years she's visited Vietnam, Costa Rica, and Japan.
